Psychological Therapy · York and Online

Evidence-based psychological therapy for adults in York and online

I offer individual therapy grounded in what the evidence tells us works — tailored to you, delivered with warmth, and focused on helping you understand yourself and move forward. Sessions are available in person in York and online across the UK.

Therapy that starts with understanding you

As a Counselling Psychologist, I draw on a range of evidence-based models rather than applying a single fixed approach. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused approaches, and person-centred principles — chosen and blended based on what will be most helpful for you.

Every piece of work begins with a thorough assessment and a shared formulation — a clear, collaborative understanding of what’s going on and why. This gives our work real direction from the start and means you’re never just working through a generic programme.

I trained in CBT to postgraduate level at the University of Oxford and have extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, and complex presentations through the NHS. I bring that depth of knowledge into every session, in a way that feels human rather than clinical.

How it works

I want the process of starting therapy to feel as straightforward as possible. Here’s what to expect from first contact through to ongoing sessions.

Get in touch or book a free consultation

You can complete a short referral form so I can understand a little about what you’re looking for, or book a free 15-minute telephone consultation if you’d prefer to talk things through first. There’s no obligation and no pressure — it’s simply a chance to see whether I’m the right fit for you.

02
£130 · 90 minutes

Initial assessment session

Our first session together is a 90-minute assessment. This is where we really get to understand what’s going on for you — your history, your experiences, and what you’re hoping to change. Together we’ll build a formulation: a shared picture of what’s happening and why. From this we’ll agree a treatment approach and a realistic number of sessions to work toward.

03
£100 · 50 minutes

Ongoing therapy sessions

Regular sessions are 50 minutes and can be weekly, fortnightly, or at whatever frequency suits your needs and circumstances. I offer both in-person sessions at my room in Warthill, York, and online sessions via a secure video platform.

04
Ongoing

Regular review and progress checks

We’ll review your progress regularly throughout our work together to make sure sessions remain focused and you’re getting real value. If your needs change, or if a different approach would serve you better, we’ll talk about that openly and adjust accordingly.

Session fees

I believe in being transparent about fees. Below is a clear breakdown of what to expect.
